Volkswagen Implements Sage Fixed Assets with Cloud Hosting

Headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany, the Volkswagen Group is one of the world’s leading automobile manufacturers. With over 100 production plants and 12 distinct automobile brands that sell in 153 countries, managing the company’s fixed assets is no small task.

Challenge

With the cost of supporting their old fixed assets software climbing, Volkswagen was forced to find a new application after having accumulated upward of 40,000 assets. When Shannon Conley, Senior Tax Manager at Volkswagen, asked some of her friends working at the Big 4 accounting firms for a widely‐used and well‐respected fixed asset management system, they recommended Sage Fixed Assets.

Solution

Due to Volkswagen’s pressing summer deadlines, Paragon got right to work implementing Sage Fixed Assets. “We were up and running in just one month with very little involvement on my part because Paragon knows exactly what they’re doing when it comes to fixed assets,” says Conley.

Using the Sage Fixed Assets Cloud Hosting service from Paragon, Volkswagen was also spared the hassle of purchasing servers and configuring equipment to run their new software. “Hosting with Paragon is easier and more cost‐effective than running the software internally,” explains Conley. “We don’t have to worry about managing software upgrades or database backups. Those are all done automatically and handled by Paragon.”

Results

According to Conley, Volkswagen now enjoys better reporting and the process of adding new assets to the system is so much faster and easier. “Sage Fixed Assets does everything we need functionally at just a tiny fraction of the cost of our old software,” she says.
