- Chicago’s Christmas Tree. The city’s magnificent Christmas tree stands in Millennium Park, It’s the perfect spot for snapping a festive selfie, gathering the kids for a charming Christmas card photo, or simply pausing to admire the dazzling array of lights that adorn its branches.
- Christkindlmarket Chicago. Vendors from all over the world come to Chicago to sell German-inspired food, hot chocolate and one-of-a-kind holiday gifts.
- Christmas Around the World at the Museum of Science and Industry. The museum’s giant rotunda is transformed into a forest of perfectly decorated Christmas trees, including a 45-foot tree in the center surrounded by more than 50 trees and holiday displays representing different cultures and traditions from around the globe.
- ZooLights at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Enjoy the giant 3D light displays, musical light shows, ice carvings, and strolling carolers.
- Polar Express. This immersive one-hour train experience allows passengers of all ages to experience the magic of the iconic Christmas book and features dancing chefs, caroling and keepsakes that passengers can take home.
- CTA Holiday Train and Bus. The train is decked out in twinkling holiday lights, with Santa and his reindeer riding outside to wave at families. Check the CTA website for its schedule.
- Lightscape at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. The show, complete with singing trees, is a feast for the eyes.
- Holiday Magic at the Brookfield Zoo. During the holidays, the zoo shines with 2 miles of lights, a 41-foot-tall Christmas tree, a 600-foot Tunnel of Lights, an ice skating rink, and a scavenger hunt for hidden gnomes.
- Illumination: Tree Lights at the Morton Arboretum. The Arboretum is transformed into a spectacle of color, light and sound, including 150 colorful lanterns and a one-mile paved path featuring festive music and thousands of lights.
